Attendance Works is participating in Giving Tuesday this year, so mark your calendars for November 27!
Giving Tuesday kicks off the holiday charitable giving season by inspiring people to support causes that mean the most to them. Like specific days designed to increase sales across many brands— Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Boxing Day— Giving Tuesday can do the same for the philanthropic sector by promoting involvement and investment in non-profits and charities.

Giving Tuesday has blossomed into a world-wide event that encourages individuals, families, communities and companies to donate time, food and clothing as well as dollars. It presents a perfect opportunity for everyone to support a cause that improves their community, school or neighborhood. This year over 2.5 million gifts made online raised $300,000 in over 150 countries, according to #GivingTuesday.
Attendance Works will be part of the action on Giving Tuesday. Here’s why:
- Nearly 8 million students miss so many school days a year it negatively impacts their academic achievement.
- Chronic absence has moved from an unknown concept to a national education metric in the Every Student Succeeds Act. Today all states are required to include chronic absence in report cards, while 36 states and the District of Columbia are using chronic absence as a school accountability metric.
- We know that reducing chronic absence—as early as possible—is both doable and essential to better futures, especially for our most vulnerable children and families.
- The demand for our free, easy-to-use resources and tools for schools, principals, superintendents and communities is enormous.
Please join in on Giving Tuesday and help us continue to provide critical resources to ensure children are in school so they can learn and thrive.
Your donation will go toward making sure that the quarter million people who view our website each year continue to receive our resources and materials. Our ability to offer materials through our website, webinars, presentations, technical assistance and much more depends on support from caring individuals like you.
“We hope that Giving Tuesday inspires you to give to Attendance Works so together we can continue to advance student success and close equity gaps by reducing chronic absence,” said Hedy N. Chang, executive director of Attendance Works. “Together we can make sure our next generation has an opportunity to pursue their dreams for an improved future.”
