Erin M. Simon, Ed.D., is a prominent education leader known for her impactful reform initiatives, especially for marginalized students. As the Associate Superintendent for Special Programs Support at the Los Angeles County Office of Education, she champions positive change for youth in the juvenile justice system and within the county's 80 school districts.
Previously, as Assistant Superintendent at Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD), Erin managed a large team and budget, overseeing Special Education and Student Support Divisions while providing vital social and emotional support to students.
Erin’s career began in Los Angeles classrooms, progressing from high school dean to principal in Redondo Beach. She has been instrumental in improving student achievement, expanding mental health resources, promoting attendance and supporting homeless and foster youth.
Erin has received accolades for her commitment to educational equity, including recognition from the California Attorney General for reducing elementary school absenteeism and the Long Beach City Prosecutor's Office IMPACT award for combating chronic truancy. As President of the State Association of California School Administrators from 2022-2023, Erin advocated for the state's vulnerable students. Erin holds a bachelor's degree in public relations from San Jose State University and a doctorate in educational leadership from California State University, Long Beach.
