Sue Fothergill is a Senior Fellow with Attendance Works. Sue was the Director of Strategic Programming with Attendance Works prior to her departure. She managed Attendance Works’ policy strategy, facilitated the National Network to Advance State Attendance Policy and Practice, and provided technical assistance to help educators at the state and local level put in place evidence-based attendance improvement strategies. She led Attendance Works technical assistance provided through the federally funded National Student Attendance and Engagement Success Center and the federal Every Student Every Day initiative.
Prior to joining Attendance Works, she led the Baltimore Student Attendance Campaign, and co-founded the Baltimore Education Coalition which successfully advocated for a $1 billion investment in new school buildings for Baltimore City public school students. As a staunch advocate, Sue is committed to justice and equity whose work revolves around making sure educators are equipped with the resources they need to improve practice. She is also an award-winning organizer, keynote speaker, trainer, and consultant. Sue has worked with thousands of community members, educators, families, and young people around the country on advancing equity and opportunity and creating innovative solutions to entrenched problems.
